I think tshirts are a great idea! I better order one lol. I'm flying to Ohio (I grew up there) in 3 weeks to visit family and friends. I planned the trip especially at this time so I could attend the Ohio National

I am just coming in for the day then driving back up to near Lake Erie but I'm really looking forward to it! Hope to meet some of you there!

I've never been to a show. Do people sell feritile eggs? Day old chicks? what is there for sell? I cant wait to go.

When we were there, I mostly remember adult or started birds...BUT there may have been more. Imagine two long isles at Walmart that are full of chicken cages. IT WAS GREAT! Lots of SQ birds there, last years breeders and such and lots of great people to talk to!

I may make rounds at downtown bars the Friday night before the show with my Serama Jester as an ambassador.

For all you equestrians going, there are nearby thrift stores that may carry leftover Quarter Horse Congress equipment! I have found hats, boots, breeches, even saddles in the past. The Vollenteers of America on Indianola (near Weber?) has been lucky for me, and there are two on Cleveland and Innis. There are also a couple of dry cleaners on Indianola who may be selling unclaimed show clothes. And, of course, there's Rod's Western Palace right off the highway.

There will be few hatching eggs or day olds offered compared to shows held in the springtime.

The OHIO NATIONAL is one of the very best places to aquire better quality birds. And don't just lurk around Trader's Row. Look in the show aisles where birds that interest you for the exhibitors to be hanging around. They are easy to pick out. Running from bird to bird declaring the judge was blind or the "bird wouldn't show" etc. These are the exhibitors and don't be afraid to ask them about the birds you ae interested in. The birds in the show will generally be more expensive to buy than in Traders Row. But then if you are serious about better quality consider this - how economical is a $5 bird and a ton of feed to take years to breed up the stock? Not as nearly as economical as a $25 or $50 bird that can take years off your breeding program.

Remember that as one of the last shows of the year the birds that breeders have left to sell or those from the final cut. If they are not sold they will go home to be wintered over - that is how good they are.

Remeber that it dosen't take any more feed for a good one than it does for a poor one.

I agree. I am bringing birds to the to the show that are also for sale. I am showing them for a couple reasons: to see how they do, and the sellers row can be sooo crowded.

So if you're interested in Standard Dark Cornish find me in the English rows! I just will ask that you leave the bird in the cage until the release time (noon Sunday).

A tip that the breeder brought the bird to sell in the show rows, is if the cage card has 'out' or something similar written on it. That means they aren't showing the bird. We met up with a couple breeders who brought birds to sell to us, and that's how they kept them.

Happy shopping!
