I have a light Brahma who looks like she's been molting a bit.
Around (what would be the shoulder area) her upper wing area
where her wings meet her body, on both sides.... she has developed these bloody
areas. Can anyone recommend an ointment or salve of some sort
so it doesn't get infected....or recommend any other first aid solutions.

Thanks

I have used antibiotic ointment on any "raw" spots that my birds have. Keep an eye out on her to make sure other birds are not pecking the area. If you see others pecking, I have used Vicks Salve on the spots. It's strong smell/flavor keeps them from pecking the area. There is something I have read of others using I believe it is called Bluekote that you can get at farm supply stores that keep them from pecking but it stains everything blue.

Good luck, hope this helps.

Yes, just what you would use on a person. I always have some around since I have children. Just make sure you get the antibiotic ointment and not the anti-itch cream (or diaper rash tube)!

When you have kids, you have lots of tubes of stuff!

It is amazing what you have around the house you can use on the chickens if you do a little research.
