Ok break my heart - are these all roosters?!

Here they are at 4.5 weeks. I feel like Swedish flower hens might be late bloomers?? This first one looks like it’s just getting a crest now, my legbars and Icelandic started getting their crests a week or two ago.

Thinking I’m getting roo vibes from the white one but up in the air on the rest!

I don't see dark or large combs at this time, but that can still change. So far I'd vote pullets all around.

I'm still new so others may have input about saddle or hackle feathers or gender specific color patterns, but I don't think those are obvious until they're a bit older.:fl

Yeah these are tricky little ones! A week later and combs are all still small and pale and no wattles really. So maybe??

I don’t know enough about the breed to know. I’d be shocked if 4/4 were pullets though, that has not been my luck in hatching other breeds. I did have the poorest hatch rate in general with this breed though. Only 4/10 eggs with this breed were fertile, and these are the 4! So maybe some strange correlation there - poor fertility with this rooster but he gives you more pullets?

I think they’re all pullets. It’s much harder to sex when you only have one sex of a breed or variety. This same scenario happened to me with my four Buff Laced Brahmas. I assumed at least one had to be a cockerel so was guessing and guessing until I realized they were all pullets :)

The hen determines the sex of her chicks. There are examples of parthenogenesis in chickens actually and all offspring are female. I wouldn’t jump to that conclusion however!

I included a picture of the wrong white chick in the last post! That white chick is a pullet, but it’s an opal legbar! Oops! Here’s my white Swedish flower hen, now 5 weeks in this picture as I just took it yesterday.

She’s a pullet as well. It’s just hard to judge because you have none of the other gender. Here’s my thread with my similar scenario. It’s just hard when you assume one has to be a male :)
