Ok Fantasy book readers, i need your help!

Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" series is FABULOUS. 1960's Englishwoman goes back in time to Jacobite Scotland. Is currently a series of 7 big fat books with more to come.

Terry Pratchett is hilarious. You needn't read the Discworld books in order, but it helps. They're fun and fast, and there are a million of them. Between Discworld, The Wee Free Men, Diggers, Johnny, and "Nation", you should be kept busy for quite a while.

Neil Gaiman is EXCELLENT. "Stardust", "Neverwhere", "American Gods"... SOOO GOOD! He co-authored a book with Terry Pratchett which may be my 2nd favorite book EVER: "Good Omens", about the apocalypse gone wrong.

"The Princess Bride" by William Goldman is my favorite book. Hands down. So much better than the movie.

Edited to add: The Dresden Files, by Jim Butcher! Holy Cats how could I forget that series! He's also written another fantasy series, the Codex Alera. Dresden is a modern Wizard in Chicago, and the Codex Alera is a historic, magic, Roman-ish military sort of thing.

Try Ann Logston's Firewalk and Waterdance, easy reads, great heroines, some magic

I'm also awaiting Jean Auel's 6th book, but I'm a little afraid that Ayla Mary Sue will become great mother goddess and the book will be even more boring than Shelters of Stone (although that is unlikely)

Also enjoy Tolkien, Sara Douglass, Robert E. Howard and Karl Edward Wagner (take Valhalla by storm!)

I ordered Lloyd Alexander's Chronicles of Prydain series on Amazon and I'm still waiting for them ...

Oops, thanks Joz. Voyager is the first book, Outlander the series, doh!
Just if you read them, make sure you've got a nice beverage to, uh...cool ya down, if you know what I mean.

I forgot about the Xanth novels. The puns just keep on coming until you're beaten into a giggling pulp.

I loved the Xanth novels by Piers Anthony.

One of my favorites is a trilogy by Raymond Feist and Janny Wurts:
Daughter of the Empire
Servant of the Empire
Mistress of the Empire

I also liked Raymond Feist's Riftwar series

My husband loves the Wheel of Time books by Robert Jordon.

I also liked Elvenborn and Elvenblood by Andre Norton and Mercedes Lackey

I recommend Kate Elliot HIGHLY. I think one of her series of books is called "Crown of Stars", its great. I know she has another one or two series but as it escapes me at the moment, you would have to Google it. She is an amazing writer.

I third the Terry Prachett votes! His books are hilarious and two of them have been turned into movies.

Also check out the Percy Jackson series and Rick Riordan's new book, The Red Pyramid.

Um, nope.

Outlander
Dragonfly in Amber
Voyager (yay!)
Drums of Autumn
The Fiery Cross
A Breath of Snow and Ashes
An Echo in the Bone
...?

And, there are a few side stories she's put out based on one of the secondary characters, Lord John. Pretty fun stuff, in all. The premise is a bit cheezy, when you summarize it without spoilers, but the characters are really well developed and engaging.

And yes, it's a bit racy in parts. Friend of mine that I passed all the books to said her husband could tell when she'd been reading "the Jamie books".

As far as a beverage goes, even tho I don't much care for it, these books really inspire whiskey cravings.

And totally this! I love Pratchett.
I also enjoy Christopher Moore, but I am not sure if he counts as fantasy. Very funny guy.

Oh, how could I forget about Neil Gaiman! I love, love, love American Gods. I could read that book for the rest of my life. I really enjoyed the Sandman graphic novel series, but it should be read in order.

ETA again

Just for fun, some Christopher Moore quotes. Warning, some adult language.
