I have no idea what this one is. Thanks for help with my others! I think they are production reds and a white leghorn, but not sure on the black yet.

cherry egger

That isn't a breed, it's whatever you can mix together to get reddish eggs. The end result is a mutt, but is rebranded with a cuter name to increase sales.

OP, your bird is most likely a Buff Orpington

I am aware a cherry egger/ red production isn't a breed. I was saying it looked like my cherry egger. Meaning it COULD be a mutt otherwise known as red production or cherry egger.

It looks redder than my Buff Orpington but it still could be one. However, the thread starter made their own guess "red star-red sexlink", so that made me think it might look even redder in person than it does in the picture.

I am still saying I think cherry egger but Buff Orpington is also possible.

I have also never heard of , or seen, a "cherry egger" that lays "reddish eggs". They lay brown eggs. Their feathers are reddish. Not their eggs.

That's you guys! In person, the chick IS actually redish colored around the head. The rest of it is more buff colored. My son wants it to be a Buff Orpington but since three others (with blackstriped wings) are apparently "production reds" or "cherry egger", maybe this one is too? Right now I'm cracking up about the pic I posted that clearly shows the plate of pancakes my children and I are about to eat. I hadn't realized that was there! Anyway I did get these 6 chicks at Big R so I guess since that isn't a breeder maybe they are all mutts! I have no idea. It was one big bin, with a poster up to help you identify the breeds, and they had no idea about any of them. These are my first chickens so maybe in the future I will get them froma breeder. Maybe I should have spent more time figuring out what I was doing but I'm one of those impulsive types and I don't care what they are, I just wanted to get started and have my own eggs and pet chickens.

Looks like what TSC is selling as Red Pullets. We have two of them because my hubby liked one we had years ago. Both are very sweet and really tame.
