I am so glad to read someone is as passionate as I am about the hatching process. I am also like the expectant father pacing the maternity wing corridors. The first hatch for me was a peahen chick three years ago since then I am addicted. I have just had an external pip with one of my silky serama/silver laced Wyandotte mix eggs. The other one is two days behind. I did have a broody at the start and had an idea if gettting her to raise them but unfortunately she is no longer broody so I shall be handrearing them until they can join the other 4 , nine week old brothers and sisters. So do yours freak if you pick them up and don't support their feet? Ours do and then the girl goes bananas when I go to set her down, she always wants to jump; the boy just sits there and won't get off of my hand. They are really different...I wonder if they are related? jenniferPipper likes it when I hold her completely supported, yes. She is still a little wobbily when walking but is getting a lot better. Pipper is my first successful hatch (of anything!). My first one to make it to lockdown died
But my pipper was the 2nd to make it to LD and 1st to hatch. I'm still kind of new at this. Pipper really loves to be held though and she loves to snuggle with me.
