I candled quite a bit on mine that just hatched Mon/Tues. It was a science project for the girls and our first hatch. We had a very high hatch rate and all the chicks are very healthy. I was very careful about washing hands before and after and not fully rotating the eggs around etc.

Enjoy and take pics to document your incubation time!

Unless I have a smell coming from the bator or I can see a runny egg, I only candle when I set the eggs and day 18. I know everyone wants to see what is going on, but after a few hundred thousand plus eggs, I know what is going tho happen. Those eggs I have in the class rooms, I let the students candle an egg or two, no more.

I love to candle too. I think its fascinating! But yes wash hands before and be gentle. I candled probably every other day this last hatch and still had a good one!

Hello,

I am totally new to incubation (27 hours into first hatch today).

Are you able to see movement "pulsing" after 60 hours??
