We just culled a 4.5 week old Freedom Ranger who may or may not have had Marek's.
Paralysis can occur in at least 3 diseases I can see. In some articles she's too young to develop Marek's, in other sources she's at the right age.
Some sources say loss of appetite is a symptom, other sources say they eat like crazy. Does the fact that my birds eat like there's no tomorrow mean they all have Marek's? Or am I just not feeding them enough. Or are they just like that.
In all of my reading, people either burn down their coops never to do chickens for years and years and others just live with the disease. It sounds like every bird has been exposed to Marek's so why be so concerned about burning down my coop and culling my entire flock?
And, I can't seem to find the answer to my one question.
Can I process and eat birds who carry Marek's or have some symptoms of Marek's?
Sorry for the rant. I'm just really bummed out, frustrated and worried.
Thank you!!
