It's day 21 and this egg pipped last night and has been completely zipped since very early this morning. But it just couldn't seem to get out for some reason. So I took her out and peeled the shell away and placed her back in quickly. I didn't see any red membranes. She is chirping a lot and flopping around some. She did have some yellow yolk on her still, is that OK? I hope she makes it!!

Ok, thanks. I know a chicken "breeder" very well and they always help theirs with great success. I was still very nervous about it though.

I was nervous about it the first time too. After that, piece of cake. I have one now that pipped this morning and is halfway zipped. If it isn't out in the morning, I am going in!

I have another one that pipped this morning and hasn't started zipping. . .

Just make sure to wait the full 24 hours. Unless you can tell the chick is in trouble. I had one that was clearly shrink wrapped and got it out sooner.

Yes I wait at least 24hrs before helping. That way the yolk should be fully absorb by then and you are less likely to run into blood in the veins. Good job and good luck with the rest.

Thank you both! How did you know it was shrink wrapped? And that's when the humidity gets really low right?

By the way, the chick that I helped hatch out seemed much drier than my other chicks.

Yes on this occasion I could see the white membrane had wrapped around the chick. Here is what he looked like 2 days later:
