ok my peeps! DUCK girl or boy?

I also wondered if the green was a male marker but know nothing about magpies, so thought *maybe* the green sheen could be on a female also.

For my ducks - the green sheen does indicate male (of course with the sheen goes the raspy voice and curly tail feathers

)

I don't know of any breed of domestic duck that gets that green head on a female. Even cayugas (which have an all-over green sheen) the females don't have it on their heads.

I agree. I am gonna have top get a friend for Giblet, but i never wanted the duck in the first place. But now i would be so sad if he/she was gone! How old is your duck? Im wondering if Giblet is actually a girl or just hasn't curled his feathers yet. he's about 8 weeks old i think.

I just feel like he would be happier/ safer with a friend. Besides- if you figure out if your duck is a boy or girl- then get the opposite! awww....

They can be together, then just can't be breed together as their offspring usually die before hatching or shortly there after. 2 crested genes is usually fatal.

Definately a male. Definately not a Magpie-they don't have green heads. Maybe a Magpie cross.
