Ok, now I am worried, scared, nervous.....

Yes, I have hand turned. It is a little bit harder than using an auto turner, since you have to remember to turn them at least 3 times a day and some people don't like opening the bator because it lets out heat/moister, but it doesn't cause much harm.

I have never used the egg carton thing. I have heard that people who use the egg carton turn them that way and then take them off it at about day 18(or around there) and let the eggs just lay on there sides while egg is about to hatch. I think this works pretty well.

But it's OK to experiment. Try different things. If dry incubation works better than having hum. higher,(and this may take a couple tries before determining if it is better), than use this method. And if hand turning works well, then do that. But experiment until you get the hang of it(and I promise you will if you just hang in there!)

But don't be too discouraged if you lose a couple or more during your first times,(and even pros lose some chicks too.) Just take it as a learning experience, and the next time you try again, you will be a little better.

I know about temps, not totally sure on humidity. Just an anxious, nervous new hatcher LOL

Only eggs I have incubated were under a broody hen LOL and they are due to hatch on Monday...sigh...

That's great!

Here's some info and helpful hints for you:

Temp. should be around 96.5-102* F. No higher than 105*F and no lower than 90*F. (it can be down to 70-80*F. but not for too long!)

Humidity should be around 30-40 for first 18 days and then 40-60 on last 3 days. It shoudl be lower than 25% and if it is, add a tiny bit more water.

***MAKE SURE THE EGG HAS ENOUGH OXYGEN!!!! MAKE SURE YOUR BATOR HAS VENT HOLES!***

Number of days it takes(usually) for an egg to hatch: 21(days can be longer if temp. has been low during incubation or early if temp. is pretty high through out incubation.)

You can find much more info online or on the "How to's of hatching" in the forum.

Hope this helps!
