They were in the rainbow layer assortment from My Pet Chicken. They are 17wks old today. For the life of me, I can't figure out what breed they are. My first guess is White Rock because of the yellow legs but they look nothing like my Barred Rocks that are the same age. They are bigger and fluffier more like my BO that is 21wks.

HELP! It's driving me crazy! Oh, they have yellow beaks and red earlobes.

They were white-ish chicks with an almost silvery look to their down, definitely not yellow.

ETA they have single combs.

I don't think they're Wyandottes, even though some Wyandottes (especially hatchery) have single combs. My white Wyandottes hatched with yellow down, not silvery.

That would be my guess too but I have no idea what their chick down is like...

ETA: Pics of day olds here How do they compare to yours?

So I double checked which hatchery MPC gets their chicks from and it's Meyer. The only white brown-egg layer they sell is a White Rock. So, I guess they are White Rocks! Is anyone familiar with them, are they bigger and fluffier than Barred ones? Or is it an optical illusion, do the stripes make the BRs look smaller?

ETA They also seem to be maturing faster than the Barred, one of them was sitting in a nesting box yesterday making purring noises.
