I have been posting like mad, but have yet to introduce myself
I live in Maine. I will be 31 on the 30th of May.... LUCKY ME there is a chickenstock in my area on my B-day! Yay!!!
I grew up with sheep, horses, chickens, turkies, bunnies. My parents ate all of my furry whooly feathery friends (except the horses!) It MeSsEd WiTh My MiNd !!!! LOL
I became an unnoficial veterinary assistent/ pet groomer and over the years have rescued and placed many cats/dogs and other critters.
I currently have 4 dogs: a Pitbull (who will bite any strangers hand off but will mother any tiny creature; kitten, chick, mouse like it were her own.) A 13 yr old dalmatian who currently has doggy dimentia and is driving me NutZ!!! and two rescue mutts that I found on Petfinder that came from HI-kill pounds in OH and KY. (best darn dogs in the universe are thrown away dogs no one else wants!)
I also have 4 cats (had 5- RIP PooDoo Man) they all started out as neighborhood rejects- one was from a litter I bottle fed. 2 were feral brothers I trapped and the 4th was abandoned in an aptartment and close to death. (I am not even a cat person....anyone want a cat (or a few....!)
Also have a baby snapper we aim to release as soon as the weather warms....found her shriveled and crusty in the sun last year.
OH, and the whole reason I am a memeber of BYC!....My 2 rescued hens Peep and Delilah !!!! Peep is a RIR (or mix? as her eggs are small and light???) D is a shaver red/comet? was a egg factory pullet that was lucky enough to fall off the truck on her way to a cruel new 'life' and get found by me! (my first rescue 'Bunny' recently passed away but was from the same egg production facility as Delilah)
Soon to have a light brahma chick this month and possibly a silkie too who I hope to turn into a certified 'therapy pet'
My husband does not share my passion for animals (but he thinks they are 'cute' so he doesnt complain!) We don't have human kids and don't ever plan to so its my excuse to spoil the critters! My family is not very pet oriented- so think I am CrAzY.
we currently live in a ghetto neighborhood and are anxiously waiting for our house to sell so we can move far FAR away from here so we can live peacefully and (so we can get more chickens Yippee!) my husband wants a MINI GOAT!!! lol....I told him NOT unless HE plans on making time for feeding it and caring for it. LOL
Our future goals are to harvest our own food and use solar/wind power. I'd like to have a profitable green house business as well as a pet grooming shop as a home based business.
anyway, thats a vague glimpse of 'me'.
