I had 18 eggs in my bator....Im new to all this.....they started the hatch on sunday.....well.....here we are on weds.....and the first one that pecked out still didnt totally hatch.....there was it and one other....that have struggled for 3 days.........well....I couldnt help the mother instint in me I HAD TO HELP THEM.........and...........................now...........................................I sit here in turmoil............because whats worse....................watching them struggle outside the shell..........or inside.........................................

so here is my point of contention.............I watched them try.....and struggle for almost 3 day............the bator is really starting to SMELL AND BAD................I have removed all the old shells one at a time............and these last 2 seem to be shell stuck...........the sack dried around them and to ME they seeemed stuck.....................

well I misted them with warm water and cracked both shells.........almost like crushing the last bit they couldnt break.....................and now one is out and the other still just can not seem to get out.......im not sure if I did the right thing or if there is anything else I can do........the thought of them dying in a stinky incubator stuck in there tiny shell was just tooooooooo much for me to take.....so now what.....is there anything else you can reccomend????

Pop them out.

I do it all the time.

Before coffee I found 3 chicks in the incubator, and a stuck zipperhead.
I did that one this morning before coffee.. Really stuck. Came out perfect.

We hatched 10 Saturday, 7 Tuesday and 6 today. We have about 140 chicks right now.
About 10 of those needed help. So I'm getting good at it.
Just pick around the shell, lift the top off. If you see blood stop.
Do not rip the dried membrane off a baby if it is stuck fast. It will fluff up later.
Just keep the baby very warm.

Read the other posts about how to save a chick.

Good luck and go slow, but they need help at this point.
