My quail chicks always seem to be sleeping very heavily when I go check on them but when I go over to them the bounce back up and are very lively but I don’t think it it is to warm because they always are directly under the heat lamp and the temp is around 35 degrees

They are Japanese coturnix quail 4 days old the ambient temp is about 24 degrees

Are those temperatures in degrees Celsius?
35 Celsius = 95 Fahrenheit, about right for baby birds
24 Celsius = 75 Fahrenheit, comfortable temperature for people's houses

(Some of us are in the USA and use the Fahrenheit scale--where water freezes at 32 degrees. So those temperatures looked scarily low when I first saw them!)

I don't know about quail specifically, but baby chicks do sleep a lot at first, so it might be normal :idunno

Sory yea Celsius I think I’m just overthinking this is my first time

We just raised our first chicks, and my daughter called it “quail nap time” because they’d all fall asleep at the same time...as in one would fall asleep and within a minute the rest had joined in, snuggling together like puppies. It was really cute. :) Within a week or so, they were more independent. We used a thermometer, and just made sure the brooder stayed between 90-95 the first couple of weeks and they were okay. But our breeder said to watch the chicks. If they’re always snuggled under the light, it might be too cold. If they’re always away from the light, too hot. If they’re running all over the cage, temp is perfect. Good luck and enjoy the babies—they grow up so fast!!

We used a reptile (red) heat lamp (75 watts) to maintain that temperature—set it on one side of the wire top of the aquarium we were using.

First week they do sleep a lot -they are babies.
I get worried every time! Keep having to tell myself again and again it's ok.
I don't have experience with quail, but it would be the same.
