OK to use wire floor?

Chickens want something solid that they can scratch under their feet. We have a solid floor with bedding under their feet. If it is for the house it might be OK. A floor would still be better. For a run it would make them very unhappy. I suggest a floor and bedding or woodchips.

My guys are gonna be free range. Come and go as they please. Coop is going to be mainly a roost and laying box. Installing a wire floor to help with the clean up.

I hear the 1/2" is to small. Wondering what size will allow the poo to flow through?
