I ordered an overhatch all layers from Meyers & they are 2/5/2024 hatch. I order 27 chicks.. lost 3 as Teo were week. I believe I have several different breeds but I'm stumped on these.. not exactly sure!! I've included pictures of them during the first few days old & now they are a little over 4 weeks old. Thoughts??

Thanks! I wondered! I didn't expect to see so much white though! Yeah, I have about 6 of these & suspect that one is a Cockerel. Do they usually have this much white? Does it molt out?

The white will go away over time, and usually its the cockerels who have more white on their chest when they are young and it takes them longer to grow out of it than the pullets.

Interesting.. I've never had this breed before... what would you say on their performance & personality?
Here is something I wrote before on the Sussex breed:

The Sussex is a British breed that was named after the English county from which it originated, Sussex. This dual-purpose breed is known for their sweet temperament, often regarded as one of the best chickens to have for companionship, though they are not suited for being house chickens. The Sussex are great foraging birds and they would rather pass up the chicken feed and find their food elsewhere, as if they are a feral chicken. Indeed, the females also make good broodies and often try to hatch out their tinted eggs multiple times each year. There are several color varieties of Sussex, but the most common and perhaps the most beautiful would be the speckled. Speckled Sussex have a dark mahogany colored plumage, with a multitude of their feathers having a black dot and a white tip. These speckled feathers work excellently at camouflaging against the background of undergrowth, making the Speckled Sussex resistant to all predators who overlook them.
