Okay...answer this ? for me please...

uummm.. sounds like that AG teacher needs to be teaching ART or something....
i thought teachers were supposed to TEACH not spread lies and BS.. if the teacher did not know the answer, then they should make it a project for the students to find out.. or HHmm possible FIND the answer THEMSELVES!!!
there are enough LIES being taught in the history classes, they dont need to spread more in the AG dept too...
sorry i really dont find it a laughing matter,, it just ticks me off
on the other hand,, i would be KNITTING some chicken SOCKS for the teacher for x-mas...for a good laugh

OK, I'm laughing again now! It sounds exactly like the sort of thing my one uncle used to say to humorously explain all sorts of things. He had some expression for when they were moulting and they didn't lay... something about their 'hair do', but I can't remember what it was... We couldn't ride this one mare because she had a speckled nose either!!! (she just wasn't broke to saddle)

It wasn't part of an actual lesson plan, just a comment, and I'm thinking your DD knew it since the 'who' of who told her sort of drifted! heheh... cute! Kids can learn that old-timey expressions and jokes can be amusing, have some truth in them, but not be gospel either.

Easy Sandypaws LOL - he's a wonderful teacher...I've met him and adore him - perhaps as others have said, given it was his father - its something to do with an "old wives tale" and its just how his dad interprets it - i dont know...

I did find it funny though...

especially how it all came on - like you're saying Portegegirl - DD knew..but I saw something in her face and heard it in her tone like "hmmmmm...questionable" - and she didnt want to say to the teacher "Uh - I dont think thats right" - but...who wants to say that to a teacher who's just conveying something that their dad said to them?

I wouldnt - I think its funny - and cute (silly...nonetheless) but... perhaps it has some validity after all... I dont know

Poor kid - the look on her face (and mine subsequently) must've been priceless...
