exactly lol my chickens live in a shanty compared to this it is absolutely beautiful
Thank goodness they don't have chicken "reality" TV shows like "Real Hens of Orange County" or "Pimp my Coop" or our chickens' expectations would be way too high! They already seem to expect a treat EVERY time I come outside...But I could go for an episode of "Coop Crashers"!

WOW! This is a very nice coop. I do have a question though... What was your reasoning for placing the run underneath the coop? Even if you wanted to make it the same height as you have now, why did you not just place the run next to the coop. I don't mean this as a criticism, just a question
I really like your coop. The run under it is great but I would add more run space so the chickens could be outside not just under the coop with very little light. They will utilize the run under the coop when its raining or hot but adding more run space & maybe another roost outside would really be benefical to your flock. I know it means more work & money. Maybe I should just keep my mouth shut. Again you did a fantastic job.

We have plans for a run next to the coop maybe later, but we also plan to free range once they start laying in the nesting boxes. We want them to know where home is since we live on a large farm with a number of other buildings nearby. Our last flock found the barn and never went home to the coop. We could never find the eggs and eventually the predators got them all.
