I'm 30mins from Charlotte, NC....in Mount Holly...can anyone tell me where their is a feed mill near me, that sells the chicken food & stuff? How do I buy it, just call them, or walk in their? Is it an actual store? I would love to save some money on chicken food, and get good fresh stuff. I have 6 9wks olds, and 2 older ones. I need something for all of them to enjoy & can eat! Do these feed stores sell grain & bird seed too? Can't chickens have bird seeds?

THANKS!

Hey Ambermarie:

I'm up here in Raleigh, and I was going through the same dilemma. I did not like the feed I was getting from TSC, so I googled "Feed Mills" and discovered there were 2 within 30 miles of me.

I tried the feed from a mill and there was just too much waste. Lots of loose stuff that they would just sweep out on the ground with their beaks.

I ended up with Bartletts Lay Pellets that I get from Southern States (it is made in Statesville). The "girls" like it, and there is virtually no waste, if a pellet pops out of the feeder on the ground they will pick it up as it is large enough for them to see.

I'm sure there must be a Southern States store within a few miles of you. They also carry a wide variety of feeders, waterers, etc.

Good Luck in your search.
