Okay need help with types of food to get for all my chickens!

Forgot to mention that I add 1 part rolled oats to 3-4 parts regular feed (Allway product mentioned above). I started adding it just on instinct and then I read on this site it's good for them as well.

Do you cook the rolled oats? I also have the Quaker Rolled Oats, the big containers...as I love oatmeal too! Also, so the brand is called Big V?

THANKS SO MUCH TOO!

No, I buy the rolled oats in 50 lb. bag from my local feed store for around $8.40 - much cheaper than Quaker Oats. Don't cook them, but avoid the type that are still in the husk as it's hard for them to digest in the crop.

I also add 1 tbsp or so of vinegar with the mother per gallon of water - there's tons of info on this site re: that. It also helps with high cholesterol for us humans!

Getting ready to run errands and check for eggs - I'll check back later if you have any more questions or you can always PM me.

Vinegar with the mother is unfiltered vinegar - it will have sediment lying on the bottom of the bottle that needs to be shaken before you use it. I get Bragg's vinegar at my local health food store - most carry it. In some of the larger towns/cities, some of the larger stores or "market" stores will carry it. It will actually say "with the mother" on the bottle.

One other thing - once you start giving your chicks anything other than their starter mash, be sure you provide grit. TSC has "chick" and "chicken" grit. The chick grit (used prior to 11 weeks of age) is much smaller than the chicken grit - others use parakeet grit found at pet supply stores.
