I have several barred rock hens & a beautiful BR rooster. I had a broody hen that I put in with the Roo. I even blessed them & told them to multiply! (The honeymoon started before the "I do's" were completed!)

So here's where I got confused: I have left them together & the little missus isn't paying any attention to the eggs. What's more, she isn't laying hardly any eggs now. Where did I make my mistake?
Thanks!

if you moved a broody hen (she was already starting to set) that can be enought to confuse them and cause them to go unbroody. there are some broodies that you can move all over and they will set whereever ther is an egg! If she is still laying...she isn't all the way broody and is still bilding up her nest. Broodies will stop laying and just sit...and if they are like mine they get growly and get stupid looks on their faces!

Oh, that's funny! Yes, stupid looks...sort of a trance or perhaps as if they have been smoking something funny...
