okay - so the tractor has been started - nest box question

Okay - reading here it says to have a next box that is 12x12 for up to 4 large breed hens -

and then it mentions 14" high? so ???? On one end of my tractor I have space for the 12x12 box type nest, do they need 14" above that to stretch to lay the egg? I want to make sure I get it right. LOL

I was considering putting 2 boxes on one end, but am unsure of having 14" all through the box due to the sloped sides.
