To raise a chicken morally, you have to: every morning, pick up each one, pet it a little, kiss it on the head. Every night, tuck them nicely onto their roost, kiss them on the head. Remind them to say their prayers, too!

Unless the person, whomever it is in your life that dissagrees on what you feed your chickens,comes over daily,cleans,feeds,waters,and buy things for your chickens then they have something to say.If noone but you does these things,then anyone elses opinion doesnt matter.Do I come over and pay for feed,water bill,vet supplies,and/or shovel chicken poo for anyone else on here? NO. THEREFORE, its none of my affair what you feed your chickens,and thus none of anyones affair what I feed my chickens.

chickens have no morals.Chickens wont wake up one morning on their perch and say ' hmm today Im going to be a vegan. So I wont join the mice-eating rally or the snake slaughter today.Instead I will wear a sign and strip all my feathers til im nakey and have a starve out in main street chicken run,USA.

My chickens eat layer pellets daily.Period.My choice.Since I am the owner,noone can tell me diffrent.You'll just be preaching to the choir.

For snacks are the occasional mealworms,red worms,hissing roaches,palmetto bugs,cicadas,grasshoppers,grub worms,snakes,and mice.

Chickens are omnivours.you cannot change that.its in their dna.Human Morals cannot change animal dna.

Now, seriously. Since the OP mentioned morals twice to us about how we are raising our chickens, I would like to be serious. My morals come from what God says. There are specific rules that we are to adhere to. My Lord put it very succinctly - "The greatest command is this - love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. The second is equally important - love your neighbor as yourself. All the commands are tied up in these two."
There is no mention as to how people are to feed their chickens! We're given free choice in this matter. There is, however, 'judge not, that ye be not judged". On that note, I'll exit this thread, and not return. Too much talk has gone on already.
