You're the only one I have ever heard say that they have been susessful at splash X splash breeding. I have not, but maybe I just haven't had a dark enough splash

Splash X splash should be fine for a generation or two. You really need to consider the individual birds you are using. Splash x splash may eventually wash out all colour.
