Wondering how long chickens live. I have 2 RIR, 2 Australorps, 2 White Leghorns, 2 mixes (of americana, and something else), and a cochin mix rooster..and a barred rock hen, who I think is older.

Also when do they stop laying? I heard the average is 2-3yrs old, is this correct?

Chickens, in the right conditions can live 6-8 + years.

There laying slows down as they age, but I dont know if it ever completely stops.

And Mutts have the same life expectancy as pure breeds.

Good Luck!!

When I was little guy our neighbor gave me a hen and 13 baby chicks. They all growed up and my parents let me keep 1 roo. His name was Oscar. Then one day we moved to town and I gave my chickens to my grandmother. Oscar almost made it to 10 years old!
