okay, way too many missing eggs

I suspect your problem is a hidden nest. Chickens do that. Look every where, and if you don't find it, have the kids look. They are great at finding things.

Nope no yolk, shells, messiness, clumpy bedding, nothing. They aren't free range so they're not laying elsewhere. And the broody's eggs marked with an x are disappearing too, so we know its not that they're just NOT laying. I looked for a snake, couldn't find one. I'd rather kill it but I'll secure the perimeter today.

I had noticed I was missing eggs for almost a month before I found the snake that was eating them. I thought mice were getting them. I finally found a 4 ft black snake curled up UNDER my broody hen eating her clutch of eggs. She had 12 under her when he started, and when I finally removed and dispatched the snake only 4 were left (all 4 of them just hatched yesterday, by the way

). I opened up the snake just to be sure, and there were 10 eggs inside it. Guess it hit a couple other boxes before it curled up under my hen. So look REAL good for the snake. Look everywhere, including under your broody. I never thought I would find a snake under her, and I'm sure it doesn't happen often, but it was there (but never will be again). Good luck!
