I'm a licensed npip tester for the State of Oklahoma.

I won't be flock testing, just individual birds for folk who are npip and want to purchase from non-npip flocks.

Dumb question I am sure, but what is NPIP?

You are right about "due time"! I've been in this house for almost 11 years and it has taken all that time to get the outside to this point, which is not nearly finished (and probably never will be!). Notice I never show inside of the house...I am NOT domestic in the least. I'm from a small family where both of us kids were required to do the outside chores - the animals and gardens, etc. Neither of us learned anything about cleaning or cooking or sewing or keeping a house. My brother was fortunate enough to find a wife who excels at those things. I much prefer the outdoor activities, and the only thing I like doing in the kitchen is canning. You'll think this is funny: during my first couple of weeks at college I took my laundry down to the dorm basement to do the wash, and it wasn't until I was standing in front of the washing machine that I suddenly realized I had never done a load of laundry in my life. I had to call home and ask how to do it. My mom was not patient when I finally called and asked how to cook - she sent me an old copy of Better Homes & Gardens cookbook with a note that read simply: "If you can read, you can cook. Love, Mom"

LOL that is not quite so true.

Years ago we took a BHG cookbook and one from Betty Crocker and one said that three teaspoons equaled a tablespoon and the other one said only two.

And my first wife was a very green cook so she bought a cake mix from Betty Crocker figuring that it would not steer her wrong. She followed the instructions to the letter but the cake just did not turn out. Why? No place in the directions did it say to half the mixture and use two cake pans for baking. It did however say to pour the mixture in a 9" baking pan and then bake at whatever it was.

I once read of a couple in the UK that had a bird's leg surgically removed due to an injury I think. It was an older bird and in a week or so was hopping about the house and getting along just fine.

good deal, felt so bad for that little hen...

So it would be OK to bring non-NPIP birds to Poops? We're not tested yet....we're thinking about it...but want to get more infrastructure in before. I'm not even sure how much it costs...or how much of a pain it would be. I like to buy at sales/ swaps etc from just anyone if the birds are good...and prices are good....how much of a pain will that be.

Bought a pair of broiler roos at Orshelens.....they're prob 4 weeks old, but still at the 1.97 each....so yeah I had to have them, lol. And I'm trading one of my shearing clients a hen and a pullet for 7-12 (didn't really get a good count) broilers the same age so they'll have buddies....for a few weeks LOL. She bought them at TSC....they told her they were layers......those sure as anything aren't layers. But I'm looking forward to eating them.

Think I'm gonna go back and buy some barred rocks, to resell, they're the same age, but still old prices.....I'm thinking about it. I'll probably hit the other local farm stores too and see if they have well started broilers as well.

My grandmother had a bantam hen that lost both legs in '83 due to frostbite, after my gma passed in '88 it was the only one my gpa kept because it had become a pet and would hobble up to my gma every time gma would sit outside. She would pick it up and pet it and it would rest it's head against her chest. So it lasted 5 yrs after the frostbite.

Sorry to ask you this question again, Betsy, because you answered me once already, but do you know if you will you have any fancy-colored guinea hatching eggs at POOPS?

I don't plan to have hatching eggs there. So far, I don't sell hatching eggs.
