I have three hens that are technically "blue" but are so light that I could call them lavs.
Of course my Blue rooster has black on him as all "blue" roos tend to have.

I am not addicted I just like to enable others. If I were addicted I would have problem and having the birds is no problem.

If having the birds is "no problem," then now that all the muscovey ducks are contained and no longer cause a problem with dirty stock tanks, I am not addicted either

What has the closest body and feather type of a NN? or does that matter to you? if you use an Orp they should be large, broad, and heavy, if you use an americana it would likely be one real interesting NN with Tufts and a beard. I am sure that there are other options for a Standard carrying Lav but these two would be th emost available to you.

I think I would prefer the Orps over the Ameraucana but I could go with either one.
I am not sure what other standard breeds have a lavender strain.

I have had some Ameraucana/NN crosses and they can look funky.

Is this your way of telling us you are planning to get married in the near future?

Oh goodness no...I was just being silly as usual. I told DBF Jack that I had posted the "wedding at a gun show" bit, and he said "Hmmph." I believe the secret to a long and successful relationship is separate housing.

m.ruzycki :

In addition to chickens I also grow 100% organic vegetables in season and I have been selling @ the Choctaw Farmers Market and to local resturants. This year I will also be taking orders for CSA baskets. I have 2 options, the 1st is a $50.oo plan and includes 4 $30.oo baskets and the 2nd is a $100 plan and includes 8 $30.00 baskets. The baskets are filled with a pre set amount of the basics: Tomatoes, cuccumbers, squash, zucchini, and okra but can be modified to each pesons likeing. I will also be growing asparagus, corn, peppers, bok choi, carrots, beets, radishes, spinach, and more. All seeds are non gmo and will be grown using organic methods. The first pickn up date will be the begining of July and go through August. Dates of pick up will also be open to change if needed. Feel free to ask any q's. I am taking orders asap so I know how much I need to plant. I am farming a 1/2 acre so there will be plenty of everything. Also Ideas and help are always accepted. And anyone who gets 5 others to sign up will get 4 free baskets. Just some food for thought.

A friens and myself are thinking about doing this. I have about an acre on the back of my property that is just sitting there doing nothing. He has some gardening experience and I have none. He is wanting to open a restuarant here in Blanchard in about a year or so and wants to grow his own veggies. he has been watching Micro-farming videos on Youtube on how to do this on a bigger scale.

Were is a good place to get reading and research material to do this.

Thanks

P.S. I am about to get him addicted to chickens, might bring him to the Blanchard Auction tonight.
