Morning everyone, I have 20 new hatclings since yesterday. Buff orphs,RIRs, and BO/RIR mixes. Yay, I love new chicks. Especially when they are from my own. It just seems so much more personal.

I found three little fluffy Valentine's Day presents under my Broody girls this morning.

They kept those eggs going thru our record cold weather!

The girls are celebrating the warm sunny weather, they laid 6 eggs today!!!!! The most since they started. All blues and greens so far.

Since this is my first experience w/ chickens I have an observation, I go out and sit in the run area and just watch them sometimes, I find it relaxing, my observation is about my little man Oreo, what roosters lack in length (time) they sure make up in quantity!

Hi everyOkie!

I hope everyone had a good Valentine's Day - even though it was on a Monday! I got roses and ribs and a Skor candy bar dropped off to me.

Congrats on everyone's new chickens!

I always get a kick out of you, Teach!

Donnie is correct about the frizzle, if that's what you're referring to - you should never breed frizzle to frizzle as it may produce a Curly (also called a Frazzle), which is a sad creature with sparse feathers of low quality. Here is a quote I found about breeding frizzles. "Thus, the reason for not breeding Frizzle to Frizzle: It causes the bird to have less feather follicles and thus will cause the bird to come out with a dozen feathers and be bald over the body and intolerant of the sun or the cold weather. Curlys are a no-no in the Frizzle breeding."
