It's been to cold for me outside today. I've gone out a few times but can't make myself stay out in the cold wind to work. Just got off a 48 hr shift so not really in the mood for alot of activity. I've tried to collect the eggs a few times but the nesting boxes have had chickens in them, we have enough girls laying now we really need a few more boxes, they have to wait in line right now (literally). I don't put my hands under a chicken to get eggs ever under any circumstance (post traumatic stress from childhood traumas

I am bundled up and trying to stay out of the wind as much as possible. That wind has a bite to it.

As a child, I didn't like to put my hand under a hen for eggs either. Those nasty hen strikes hurt! Now, I don't mind moving a chicken out of my way for the eggs, but if I have to get eggs from beneath a turkey or guinea, I wear leather gloves.

P&b we normally do have a sale on the first and third but we wont be having on on the first saturday in march because of the local ffa show.

My Cochin's pecks don't hurt. I got to remember that big chickens do hurt when I get to help Jack with his LFs.

Both DH and I are MISERABLE with the stomach flu and my brother called in the middle of the night, my Mom fell and broke her leg. They are having an ice storm (rare in Michigan). Mom will have surgery tomorrow and Dad is home alone in a cold house. My brothers got it all under control for now. Mom and Dad are 81 and 87 and I am too far away.

Hope you and your husband get to feeling better.

MJ sorry about your mother. Older parents can sure cause a lot of worry! Gee ,wonder if they say that about their kids!Lol. Hope you and DH get better soon so you can go check on them.
Well the rain has started. I am sure piglet will have a great time in her new mud hole! Its amasing how deep they can dig! She is doing a good job of turning the garden over and mixing in the hay and straw that covered it the last few months. It should make a great tomatoe patch.

Hey everybody, its been a heck of a day trying to work in this wind. I did get my greenhouse covered with plastic, hauled in another trailer load of composted manure for my raised beds ive been building, planted a bunch of onions and potatoes and set another four dz. eggs in the bators. Ive got hatching fever and starting to get this years green thumb. I finally got my seeds in the mail so now I can get started on the garden.
