Evening Folks - Lost a calf to coyotes today. Looks like he was taken down early, early this morning.

Cold weather is already here. I had to put on a second coat when I went out to the barn tonight.

We got a few BLRW pullet eggs today. They are tiny, but perfectly shaped. I hope these girls don't get confused when the snow and ice start. So far this winter my game hens have been the best layers. They give me that Emo look, the "I don't care. I do what I want," look, and then they go lay another egg. I think I need more game hens

City Beth could just keep a list like our roll call and we could link it in our sig lines.

Coral did you see my post about coyotes?? You need to talk to some of the hunters in your town & have them call them in & thin them out or you will have a real mess if you don't already since the took down a calf.

That is how the "guessing game" for the 5 million posts was set up - but then there were hundreds more people doing the guessing for that contest. I was thinking more along the lines of a link in a signature line to a chart that shows all the guesses, with the guesses being part of the Okies thread.

How horrible to lose a calf!!!

Sort of puts the loss of a bird or two to possums or skunks in a different perspective.

I agree that game hens function "differently" than "production" hens. They seem to be hard wired to lay an egg and hatch out chicks and protect them like a mama bear protecting cubs.

Marybeth & Carah I trust you gal's had a great weekend.

I had a wonderful productive weekend. I will be happy when I can just relax all weekend but I am loving my house & it will soon be spring & all will be well with my world! hahaha.

I am off to bed everyone! See ya in the morning!!!!!

Al, we will need to figure out a good night for our chat-a-thon but should probably wait until after the winter blast is past.
