I just talked to MMPoultry...I think that we might have it figured out. I have some inspecting to do in the morning and another phone call to make to him after the inspection as well as a possible game plan in place, should we need it, if what we are thinking is not the problem. Anyways...how is everyone??? I Finally have my graduation date---May 7th WOOO HOOO!!!

I let most of my chickens out late in the evening for 1 st time, 45 min. later over comes neighbor and her 3 dogs. luckily they did not notice the chickens. as soon as the chickens went back in the pen I ran over and shut the door.

congrats to Lil sooner and Dustin.

May have standard black cochin chicks for POOPS, In the incubator now.

Hey Lynn hows things in Stillwater area? Yeah I 'm going to have to let her go,I was going to take her to Okla and let my niece raise her for mr but not thinking that is a good ideal right now. And its going to be to long before we move back for me to keep her here. I sure hate to,there are so many possibilities with her. Of course I might have to keep her, haven't gotten any nibbles on her yet!

Joe you would think the sale people would be more friendly to their patrons, after all they are what keeps the sale going or not!Thats one reason Peaches and Doc are doing so well. They are decent enough to stop and visit with anyone and treat them right. That goes a long way!

Hey Lynn can you dub a rose comb?

Doodle - Victoria and I went to the Muskogee sale and visited with Joe, Sooner, & Little Sooner. We were surprised by the number of miss-identified birds. I think a person who knows chickens may be able to find a few good ones at this sale, but a newbie would be at a disadvantage. I could tell that many chicken folks were frustrated when the birds they brought for the sale were not presented accurately. If you plan to bring anything, I'd advise a cage with good visibility. Boxed birds were hard to see, and some were impossible to make out at all. They have a decent sound system, but the lighting needs work. I will go again, and may even take some birds, but I'm going to be sure everything is visible, well labeled, and I'm going to arrive early so that my birds don't end up selling last.

I heard a couple (knowledgeable chicken folk) who were leaving say that they could have put a mutt hen in a box and marked it as Mottled Orpington and made a small fortune.

Experimenting here. Trying to get an image to show up. Hope this works!

Poco yaeh you really need to label boxes well so uninformed ring workers can read the label since they don't know the breeds. Anytime I have to use a box I make at least two if not three sides wire. A closed box is just a pig in poke! Its also a shame that newbies get taken in and buy abox of something and being told it is a purebred so and so. A year later they come back to sale and have a whole bunch of offspring from theses so an so's and want purebred prices for them. Its a rude awakening when someone deflates thier ballon and tells them what they really have!
