Hope Tony O is OK. He lives in the area that has gotten 25".

We got around 6" and it isn't as difficult getting around as it was last Tuesday!

Did lose two guineas. I was afraid of that, as I'd only seen 7 of the 8 all together for several days. I've been keeping them in their pen, as they have plenty of room and places to get away from any bullying. The two were in a big dog house I'd put in their original guinea house. When I went out this morning, all but two of the 8 were in that dog house, which, of course, is the best protection. I made them get out so I could count them, and the last two had died. It's possible the others kept them from getting out and eating and drinking. There are several places for them to eat and drink, but if they were not allowed out of that house, they couldn't get to them.

Sad day. Guineas were my first poultry.

This has been a rough winter for baby rabbits. We had some of our coldest temps the days two groups of does kindled and only one litter made it. It has a heat lamp above the nest box in the cage and seems to be doing well. As you know, unlike hens who will keep their chicks warm, Does pull fur and line a nest, then leave the kits alone except for about 5 minutes twice a day. They don't stay in the nest with the kits. I like to breed 3-4 does at a time, so if any fostering needs to take place, there are does available to take extra kits.

Flemish Giant rabbits are due next week and I am hoping that all those litters do much better. I plan to bring the pedigree does inside the heated workshop a few days before they are due to kindle, so I don't lose any of those litters.
