Maribeth, I am going through one of those "I need to downsize' cycles.
So I was wondering if you might want some blues if I give in to the darkside and sell them.
It sure isn't fun trying to keep all the critters fed in the weather we've been having. Luckily we haven't been hatching any eggs in the past few months, so I don't have to worry about keeping chicks warm & fed. Unfortunately, almost all my fainting goats have decided to have kids. I think we've had around 20 within the past few weeks, and 6 of them within the past week. We're bottle-feeding 3 of them now.
I'm glad to see so many Okies chatting away & especially enjoy the humor. Whenever I get depressed from this cold weather, I just click on the Okies thread & I then I feel better
Well, time for me to get back outside & haul buckets of feed & water for several hours.
I've also enjoyed the morning banter. It's been a while since I was on the OKIE thread ...catching up since yesterday.
Meeker is still getting straight line snow. It was 8 inches when I checked the hen house and broke ice on the cattle trough. The cows are sporting their winter fashion of icicle earrings and snow jackets but they are eatting hay and water inspite of the blowing snow. The hens are enjoying their heat lamp and several are nestled into their hay boxes.
I just got caught up - enjoyed laughing at the posts this morning - you guys are funny!
Lots of blood in the coop this morning - one of my white EEs has blood on her head, but I couldn't find if it's hers or someone else's - no one seemed inordinately upset, since they're all mad about the snow. My hens must really be spoiled - they won't set a foot out unless there is straw to walk on. I took some veggies and scratch and hamburger and oyster shell out to them this morning and set it in the coop for them to have something different to eat.
I threw some bird feed & scratch out on the big pile of snow outside the den window, and now Callie the cat is sitting on the back of the sofa watching all the birds intently - gives her something to do. The dog is on the sofa trying to take a nap. I just got done with a noon conference call and am deciding whether to take a nap or do some work...hmmm....nap wins!
