really need to get rid of some birds...I have like three cages with birds I am getting out of or were oopses...that and I could use a chicken bud fix...plus I really need eggs for hatching in the class...(I know it would be cheaper to ship but this is more enjoyable!) pkus the wife said I could...blanchard isn't that week is it? thought it was fletcher and isn't that when the exotic is going on?

You are correct - the 19th is both Fletcher and the exotic animal auction in Prague. Birds go through the sale ring in Prague on Saturday but are available for "purchase" in the back alley on Friday.

how cool is the prague auction? would it be worth it to go...would pigeons bring better prices? do I need sale cages or...

Yeah Ok good idea, I don't keep track of the auction dates, Thanks for the correction Marybeth, I just go when I hear everybody wispering about going to one or another LOL. So go to Flecther I don't usualy go to Prague and we can have some big fun, maybe we could even get that big hairy guy we know to show up. I got a couple of roosters I need to shed also to make room for all of the chicks I now have in the brooder and more due to hatch in the incubator.

Once upon a time, there were people who loved chickens. They loved chickens so much that they chatted constantly about them, formed groups, and had parties. They shared family stories, daily happenings, and on and on it went until one snowy day, when no one could go out, the chatting went on tirelessly on the Internet, taking only occasional breaks to check on and care for the beloved poultry. Such intensity began to attract others from far away who couldn't believe that the Okies . . . had the best online poultry community.

These "others" studied and studied and did their best to analyze, categorize, compare and contrast the posts of the Okies and the posts of other online poultry communities. What made them different, better, stronger, or more committed? The answer was clear: These online Okies were a family. When one experienced a loss, the community consoled. When another had a problem, the community offered advice. When one had a need, the community rallied to help meet that need. This evidence confounded the "others," and they struggled to understand why people who in many cases had never met, would help those they had no obligation to help.

KRONK: (In a frustrated tone) Kronk make fire for Krank. Krank say cave too cold. Krank say need fire so wet not get inside cave and make black stink grow on mammoth skins. Stink not grow. Stink on mammoth before take skin.

KRANK: Kronk!!!!!

Actually, I don't recommend the prague auction for selling birds. You have to provide a cage that sells with the birds. The commission is 10% with a minimum of $3 per cage. Chiclooker ended up paying the auction last year when the weather prevented folks from attending in large quantities. That was also the time that my llamas sold for $40 -60.

On the other hand, if you can go on the Friday - it is worth the $5 admission fee just to see what all goes through there on Friday, in terms of exotic rams, buffalo, elk, interesting cattle, etc. I am going to forward you the email I received from them this month. There won't be a sale in Prague in March.

edited because I had the commission incorrect
