Just in case Grace doesn't get back to you soon, her Pekins started laying a couple of weeks ago. Still hit and miss because of the weather but at least they have started. You should see some eggs pretty soon.

When I get a few minutes I will go back & look for it on this thread or post it when I get home. Don't know why they expect me to work while I am at work!

Those pictures are great - I'll have to head over to the Icelandic thread and read what Mary and Kelly are up to! Thanks Kathy!

Mexican meatloaf:

1.5lbs hamburger (browned)
1 onion (chopped)
1 can cream of mushroom soup ( I use cream of anything on hand)
1 can chicken with rice soup
1 med jar of picante sauce
1 bag of corn chips (not frito's)
1 bag grated cheese (can use slice)

Brown hamburger & onions, drain return to skillet, add soups & picante sauce till heated through. In a 9x13 pan put a layer of crushed cornchips, layer your meat mixture & crushed chips & cheese (should be 2 layers) add cheese on top, cover with foil & bake approx 20-25 mintues, removing the foil on the last 5 mins or so to brown.

*** I save all the crumbs in the end of the bag that no one wants to eat in a ziplock bag & use for this. Original recipe calls for Dorito's but any corn chip works except frito's (the stick bad). I like mine hot but everyone else doesn't so I usually will add pepers to one end.

Grace'sDad - Thanks for the info about the Pekins. My hen makes practice nests here and there, but so far she hasn't laid any eggs.

Al - I'm the polar opposite of my DH. He can sleep until noon, but I'm a morning person. I like to get out when the birds are just waking up, talk to them, pick them up, check the nests for eggs, and make sure they have food and water for the day. I repeat the process after work, which is how I wind down from my time in the classroom. If I'm late, the birds scold me. They know the routine and want to stick to it.
