banjoe, pretty pic of your chickens.


My injured chicken is still alive, eating and drinking this morning. She has a large flesh wound and laceration which has been cleaned w/ betadine and sutured closed should I start her on antibiotics profalacticly? if so what one would be best (and available to me) and what kind of administration (injection, oral)? Thanks for the help.

Spent a little early morning time gardening this morning. Since we didn't make it church it was my "me&God " time! Got a few flowers moved and some potted to take to the new farm in Okla. Another few days of this warmth and we will be in full fledhe spring! Oh I hope it doesn't late freeze us again!
Trying to get two hens to accept a new broody nest.some tomes they make it so difficult!
One of my cloest neighbors walked over and inspected the pig this morning,at least he laughed about it!

he was more amazed at the turkens. The first he ever saw,he was just astonished that they are supposed to look that way!lol

I tried to find the explanation by NNbreeder regarding setting a thermostat and only went back to March 2010 - so this is all I found in # 36761:

Thanks Michael. I tried to make the Gardner one last Spring on a trip back from KC, but a huge storm was rolling in, so I went on past. I've chatted with some of the people who put it on and think there might be birds of interest for us there. Always need stuff from Smith's too. Too far to go for me right now with gas being what it is though if I'm not going specifically for something. Same holds for the Wichita one. About the same distance, but I may get the info just in case we're there for a visit and timing would work out.


Yates Center is my closest/biggest I think followed by Columbus (if they're still doing it), but I always seem to come home empty handed and to date have never had anything to sell at that time.


Things were different when my car was running. With the big ol' gas guzzling pick-up, even shipping birds is coming out cheaper. Within 30 minutes drive I'd hop in and go more often. More than that and I've got to have something solid planned and/or be combining the trip with other errands.


Funny thing, the bulk of our stock and certainly all the show stock have all come from MO and OK breeders. Don't know if it's because you all are better connected, advertise better or just flat out have better birds. Guess some of it could be a breed thing too and most of what we want just isn't popular here.
