hey everybody, just checkin in to see whats happenin. I stoped by lumber 2 today to get feed and almost bought some bantam chicks and some ameraucanas. Its so hard not to. I just had to tell myself just a few more days and yours will be hatched!! I did end up gettin 2 duckilings tho, a white and a black crested. Im proud to say that I still have all 100 cornish chicks and they seem to be happy.

Afternoon guys- gorgeous out today! I have decided to rehome these 2 silkies- pm me if interested

thanks for all the prayers- hopefully it is not serious! coral, appreciate your story!!

Robin - It helped me to meet people who had been through the same thing. It took some of the scaryness out of it.

Are the silkies both male?

I'm just taking a short break, been digging up a new garden spot w/ the girls. They seem not to get the diff between good/bug and bad/bug!! Or maybe they are just thinking about the taste. They seem to love the new game, but I'm still doing all the heavy lifting!

I plan on planting a large garden this year, one of the main reasons for getting the chickens was to garden w/ them. I plan on planting corn, tomatoes, peas, squash, cukes, lettuce, chard, cabbage, potatoes, quinoa, amaranth, sorgum, strawberries, asparagus, radish, okra (only for the girls I won't eat it) broccoli. I know I am forgetting a few things. I read a book by Linda Woodrow about mandala gardening, permaculture concepts in a back yard space, and a few other books, I am mixing and matching and adding my own thing to come up w/ a system I am trying w/ rotation planting, rotation chicken yards, companion/guild planting. I may not have it 100% this year, but It will definately be a start. It also incorperates fruit trees, which I won't have planted this year hopefully next year I'll get the fruit trees in, probably also the asparagus beds will be next year too.

What are you planting?
