Wow Donnie 10 dozen chicks! I had 9 more hatch out last night,my total is now 80 something and I thought that was a lot!
You asked how many pigeons to start with. You need at least 2-4 pairs so you get a good gene pool. I cut down to five pair of rollers last spring,I am back up to 12 pairs breeding now plus have sold or given away a whole bunch in the last year! They produce fast. I banded three babys this morning. You can sneak some of Cubans orloffts into a box and send them to me!lol Are you going to get to hatch some Langsings while you have them? Those are awesome birds. I had some when I was a kid, they were so much taller than anything we had ever had at the time.(won't say how many years ago that was!lol)

Well the auction was a blast! Sorry MJ if Carl and I scared you away.

I bought some different stuff: EE chicks, olive egger eggs, NN eggs that may be frizzled and my normal stuff Cochin chicks and some nice Frizzled hens. Got a few things for POOPS also. Well I got 2 broody hens right now with nothing under them so gonna go put these white cochin eggs and the NN eggs!

When I lived in Stillwater and had my horses, this auction is where I bought prairie hay and some alfalfa if they had it. It wasn't called the Guy Rose back then...but I always enjoyed seeing everything they had there!

Robin - the white ones with black spots are a hybrid leghorn - either Ideal 236 or California Whites...I don't know how to tell the difference between those breeds. Ideal Poultry claims they are a superior white egg layer. I don't know about the red chick - maybe Buff Orpington (BO) or Red Sex Link (RSL).

I was going to guess the offspring of a secret love affair between a white chicken and a dalmation.

But if I were you I'd go w/ cityclucks.

i have crested blue and black sweeds

Thanks, I will ask her. I like the black, but i think she was wanting muscovy or mallard call ducks.

My runner ducks are laying (blue or brown) but the muscoveys haven't started laying yet. I don't recall where you are located in Oklahoma, but would make you a good BYC "deal" on runner duck eggs now or muscovey ducks when they start laying.

Is the hen a standard or bantam? I put about 15-18 eggs under a standard and 9-12 under a bantam. If she is in a nest with walls right next to her, she can probably cover more eggs than if the walls are far enough away that she has to keep pulling them back under her.
