Thanks, I will ask her. I like the black, but i think she was wanting muscovy or mallard call ducks.

My runner ducks are laying (blue or brown) but the muscoveys haven't started laying yet. I don't recall where you are located in Oklahoma, but would make you a good BYC "deal" on runner duck eggs now or muscovey ducks when they start laying.

Is the hen a standard or bantam? I put about 15-18 eggs under a standard and 9-12 under a bantam. If she is in a nest with walls right next to her, she can probably cover more eggs than if the walls are far enough away that she has to keep pulling them back under her.

They are both bantam cochin's but in a snug nest box one was laying on golf balls! Will they lay until the eggs hatch? Since these are free range when can I take the eggs and put in the hatcher? 18th day?

Question: First, What are people selling farm eggs for right now??? Second, is it plausible to run a chicken business that is self sustaining and/or profitable? How many chickens would that take?

Crest if they are still laying then don't trust them with eggs yet. Once they stop laying and stay on the nest 24 hrs a day then you can put eggs under them . If someone else is laying with them then they need to be moved to their own confined area. There is no need to take the eggs and put them in a hatcher. Let the hen hatch them and then remove them from her or let her raise them. If the hen is in good shape you can give her another batch after rempveing her chicks and she will hatch another bunc. This is not recomended to do more than once. The hen then needs to breakup and put her weight back on. I have four that are on their second batch of eggs now!

I can't say anything. My truck looked like I had raided the city dump and was heading for home.
If it hadn't been dark, I don't Jared would ridden home with me.
He was worried we were gonna get stopped on the way home.

Hey guys, I have a qustion. A friend of mine has a cabinet bator and he said that the turner is turning from side to side and back again without spending any delayed time at either side before going back. He is worried that they are moving too much. I told him as long as the temp is right and they are not stationary they will be fine. Does it matter if they are that much?
