Here is a shot of my layer flock from several years ago. And yes I consider myself a serious breeder but I also have my pet projects like many breeders of show birds do.

Ok...that calico...right in the middle...LOVE IT! (what is it)

The one right square in the middle that is looking down is a Naked Neck crossed with a bantam Malay As are most in that pen. The large birds were ordered from Ideal Poultry out of Cameron Tx. and if I order 100+ birds I can usually get one or more that are show quality.

What time were you at the Atwoods in Norman? I was there around 1:30-2:00 pm. I can't tell what chicks I saw , I would not hear the end of it from Okracefan

Al glad they stopped the fire before it got any closer, A few years ago lightning started a fire in the pasture NE of me. When I looked out I saw a wall of fire headed my way, paranoid of brush fires now.

Popping in and then going back to page 1178 to read and catch up...yall have been busy tonight.
Had to drive one of the trucks to town with the cows and calves...we had to make two trips. Hubby's meds from surgery wouldn't do for driving.
Took a nap when we got home and then chores and dinner...all done.... getting a cola and gonna look at some photos some one has posted here of some pretty birds.

Me too! During the Good Friday fires two years ago it got 30 yards from our house. Last year at Blanchard I met a woman that had lost everything but 1 turkey, so sad.

Since they order from Ideal the new chicks come in on Friday usually. Might call ahead and see.

Okcarla on here has Turks for sale and she will be in the OKC area tomorrow. Wait a few and I will get her ad from CL.

Found it!!

Yep ... that's us. We have at least 3 poults of each variety (Bourbon Red, Narragansett & Blue Slate) out in the barn as of this evening, and more due to hatch in a week. They're much better than what Atwood's sells ... or at least to me they are

Usually they only sell white and bronze turkeys at Atwood's.

to all the new folks!!

Al- you keep us posted!! heard them comparing this stretch of lack of rain comparable to the dustbowl days

Mixed flocks- thats half the fun! that way all of them have names and you know who is who!

i'm beat tonite- got the guinea coop and run refurbished, dogs worked on today- took buddy over to the chickens and he completely ignored them- weird dog- course that was on a leash! he is fine alone- just can't let them run together- like 2 kids- get into all sorts of mischief! will be moving chicks to the outside run tomorow, and finish the silky pen- i think i need to downsize a bit! thinking of taking some of the flock to poops and replace them with either EE's or cochins.... those EE's are so darn sweet- and poor muffy won't keep a sock on her bare neck- so am thinking of ducktaping it on! can't get any stop pick until payday...

All of those are too pretty to eat.
