well, after waiting since monday, my wifes order of chicks arrived
. All of them are fine, which surprised me, seeing as how they were shipped monday morning, and arrived this morning...got 24 modern bantam babies, 12 self blues, 6 blacks and 6 red pyles...
Thanks for buying lunch, and for the great conversation and company. And for the birds. They are all beautiful and healthy. I will try to take good care of them (even the Leghorn
), and my friends are very excited about their four. Those are going to be some pampered birds.
They have a lot to learn, though. I told them they would need some pine shavings for their coop and they rushed out and bought 3 little hamster cage size packages. I told them I would take them shopping this weekend.
And since they got two of my biggest pups, those birds are going to be well protected, too. Those dogs are going to be even bigger than their papa.

Robin, be careful about that raccoon. Any wild animal displaying signs of illnes or acting differently could have rabies. You should probably dispose of it ASAP. This is what I just read that sounds like your raccooon: An early sign of rabies in raccoons may be simply acting in a way that is contrary to normal behavior. These abnormal behaviors may include being especially unguarded or "dumb" (far more friendly or tame than is normal)

Robin : I think we all know your stance on critters of any kind, how they feel, how to care for them ect................. I am going to go out on a limb her only because we like you alot and don't want anything to happen to you or risk any more problems with your other critters. You have a wild Racoon in a trap, don't release it, you trapped it for a reason, it ain't sick that's how they act, don't get close to the cage and goofing around with it, don't do that silly thing some folks call rehome it or dump it into some other field you think is far enough away, don't give this problem to anybody else it will come back and you will regret not having the strength to do what must be done. Leave it in the cage don't feed the darn thing or give it water or anything, if you can't or if Dave can't then get somebody right away to kill it, kill it fast and hard, put it in a trash bag take it to your trash or somewhere else and be done with it and feel good about it. I can PM you if you have any questions on fast dispatch methods if you guy's don't own a fire arm. Sorry Robin Honey but I ain't backin down on this one, we like you too much, do this thing and keep me posted.

Al is right - nothing to fool around with here. I hate when we have to do it, and my DH is a biiger puffball when it comes to critters than I am, but we both know when it's the right thing to do. He's even had to put down horses in extreme circumstances - it kills him every time, but even when it's hard, it's the right thing. Good luck and peace in this.
