quote=smfamf]Hey all.

Well I've had good news and bad news today. Good news is that my snake has finally eaten again. He stopped eating last Fall. The bad news is that the last 2 Silver Duckwing babies didn't make it.

You should have put this in two different post! It sounds like the snake ate them!lol:lau

Nana that doesn't sound like any wild duck I ever heard of! It really sounds like runners but they wouldn't be able to be wild and be able to fly off,unless they are mules from some runner /wild cross. If they come back try and get a pic. You may have discovered a new species!

Thank goodness we had done a downsize for winter before I had to get my back worked on.

Usually we hatch all the way through winter and at times I have had well over 500 birds of different ages on the ground and in brooders.

I haven't been posting because daughter in law called from dallas and said she was on the way here for the weekend early...hence had to move all the chicks out of the guest bedroom, air the room out, vacuum and relocate chicks to the tack room in the barn. New chicks hubby picked up from TSC have now been placed in my master bath and schwewww they are noisy. hopefully when the lights are out they will quiet down for the night.

Glad I'm not the only one who uses the bathroom to house chickens. Back a few months ago when we had that cold spell, I put the girls in the master bath, too. I covered everything with plastic sheets like painters use, taped it all down, put hay in the bathtub and a nightlight by the sink. They were warm and happy, I was happy, so all was well.

I've also been using a spare bedroom for the new baby chicks. Have to cover all the furniture in there too.

i thought thats what the spare bathroom was for?????

Thats pretty cool Donnie,I'm going to have to get you to show me how to do that when I get moved back there.I can remember colored chicks way back when I was a kid(yeah it was a long time ago!Lol). They were always white leghorns,and the colors wern't that good nor lasted very long but I fell in love with them every Easter! Wonder if that would work on white ducks?

All right, I am getting ready to go to bed to the sound of our new chicks lol

But before I go, thought I would share this cute ad from CL from a lady with eggs for sale. It just made me smile so thought I would share.

No need to color these eggs. We have white, brown, peach, green & blue. These are the healthiest and best tasting eggs you can get. They are from steroid-free, hormone-free and antibiotic-free hens who free range all day. We only have one white egg layer, so if you get a white egg you know that it was laid by Lilly the Leghorn. Now how many people know the name of the chicken who laid their eggs?

Have a wonderful night and a better Friday...

I did to Robin. Since its just the two of us,I use the spare bath as mine and she uses the master as hers. I haven't been able to use my tub for over amonth because I have a tub size plastic tote in it for the new chicks. Everytime something hatches I rotate older ones out to the shed! At the rate my hens go broody it may be there all summer!lol I think there is around 30-50 in there now. Don't want to count for sure because then if DW ask I would have to tell the truth!lol

I'm learning as I go. Good thing the grown human children have moved out, otherwise they'd be sharing quarters with the flock.
