Old age?

my little Buff Orpington bantam, dodger (not Roger) we named him that because he was a tiny version of Roger, passed away yesterday, I think it was old age, I got him in November. The guy I got him off of said he was old and I bought him for a dollar. He has been slowing down lately and hasn't been able to get on the roost, I put him on it the night he died and he just kept falling off so I set him on the ground, I found him the next morning dead ,I have only had chickens for a year last week so I don't know what an old chicken acts like, any ideas?

Aw, sorry It's hard to know without a necropsy. He could have had fatty liver, calcium overload, cancer, heart trouble, gout,, who knows.

He was a lovely guy, he never crowed though
