I have 7 young birds (6 weeks) and plan to build a coop for them .have an old camper shell I got $5 I want to use .

My question is: if I raise the shell above the ground ~3ft and put a floor on it will there be enough room for the girls to roost comfortably? If the shell is enclosed it's only about 2.5ft high. Roost bars could be a foot off the floor and most stuff I read says they need to be higher .

Should I just use the shell as a roof and make a larger enclosed space or can I enclose it and put a run I'm front and let them sleep inside at night?

If it were me, i would make it tall enough to stand inside. Much easier for cleaning!

I'd use it as a roof and build the coop underneath. You'll need to figure out something for year-round ventilation. Not sure how you would be able to keep the windows open and keep out rain.
