Morning folks,
My partner and I are looking at ordering a small batch of roosters to grow out as meat birds. Mostly I want it for the supposedly better chicken stock. Originally I wanted it as my meat bird in general but I'm not sure how I feel about that. Cost wise I know it's supposedly a bit more. Tho most of my flock free ranges.
That said, I've heard of lots of uses for roosters and old chickens. Chicken sausage, canning for chicken salad and such, dog food. While we will still use Cornish for the everyday stuff, I'm curious about these other uses and what you use your roosters for. Also, how different is the slower growing food? Anyone ever even eat chicken sausage? I love regular sausage not sure what I think about chicken sausage, seems like a waste of sausage LOL
