we are fixing up an old coop about 5 yrs. old. i was wondering what i could use to clean it out so my chickens do not get diseases. please help!

I would scrub it down really well with some bleach water after you clear it out of all the things in it and then let it air out for a day or two. Has there been any inhabitants in it lately? Make sure it is pretty clean and dry before you add any new residents to it. Trudy

I dont know if there has been any animals living in it because racoons could have gotten in the run because there was nothing over the run before. the roof wasn't made right so it had a big hole in it so we fixed it and took out about 6 bales of old hay that was all musty. i will try the bleach water when it stops raining:cool:

Were painting ours with exterior paint (inside and outside) so when we do wash ours out with bleach water on cleaning day it's not going to soak into the wood and take forever to dry. Is yours painted inside?
 
no it is just 2 by 4s with a wood floor. the people that built it made it different from any others ive seen. once i figure out how to post pictures on here i will post a picture of the coop. do you know how?
