Old English bantam question!

That’s exactly why I was asking about kiki s and then learned they had no standard and a reputable and very seasoned breeder NEEDS a standard!! I am. Thinking. A silver hen. Is in his. Future!
Yes, no one is talking about them in depth, but they're just crosses from Puerto Rico that everyone one is going ga-ga about for some reason.
I mean, yeah, they have some neat feathers, but they're just mutts. Like you said - breeders need a standard.
I have a buddy that calls his Kikirikis "High Quality", but you can't put the title "quality" on a mix.
I know a lot of breeder talking mad crap on the Aztecas, and Kikirikis. (The Aztecas are a newer-ish breed from Mexico, as well. They're basically the Mexicans standard for the OEGB. Just - smaller and not as good. Lol.)

I think it's quite sad that a lot of these old time bantam breeders are selling out to breed these (honestly) trashy birds with no standard.

So in conclusion, if you have OEGB, I would say stick with OEGB. I can refer you to a couple good breeder I know; if you'd like.

It’s so sad that mixed creeds get famous and no one knows what a Sumatra is? That’s mind blowing to me. I love to breed show chickens but today all people want are free eggs and mixes. It makes me wanna give up on all the time and effort a lot of people put into saving them from extinction and now even though numbers are still low we’re improving things and it is only with the standard that this was possible. Don’t get me wrong I love ee and some mixes, I just prefer pure bred chickens!

Exactly. It's starting to be the same way with OEGB. No that people don't know what they are, but more so they're just - over looked. The Old English game bantams has been in the U.S.A for at least 112 years. They were first shown in Boston in 1914, But I believe I read somewhere the first OEGB to come to America came in 1904, and if that's correct, 122 years the OEGB has been bred, and show here in the U.S.A.
But this dinky little bantam shows up out of no where within the last couple years and now a staple in the bantam world get booted?! Crazy...

And thank you for your kind words and all your help! I always worry people are gonna get rude and I just leave and never respond so thank you for answering what was initially a silly question and answering with kindness
You're most welcome. It's been a pleasure to help you out. Breeders have to stick together! Haha!
There's so few breeders now days, it's quite sad.
