I have an old english pheasant fowl who has been laying and happy, however the last few days after foraging and eating layers when let out in the morning for an hour she returns to the coup and stays there! SHe has not been laying the past few days. Is this normal behaviour? It hasn't been that cold (5-11 degrees) although it has been windy and raining on and off.

Is she some kind of chicken or a pheasant?

She is a chicken - Old English Pheasant fowl

From Wikipedia
The Old English Pheasant Fowl is a British breed of small utility chicken. It derives from traditional breeds of rural Lancashire and Yorkshire and of the former counties of Cumberland and Westmorland. Its name is due to a perceived similarity of the plumage to that of the wild pheasant. It is a rare breed, and in 2014 was listed as "at risk" by the Rare Breeds Survival Trust.
